Heath End & Rumerhedge Wood
A large area of mixed woodlands within the Chilterns AONB. Available as a whole or in two lots.
Heath End and Rumerhedge Woods stand in a densely wooded part of South Oxfordshire. Near the village of Checkendon. The sporting and mineral rights are owned and included in the sale Heath End is a mature mixed woodland with a variety of mixedconifers and broadleaves. Whilst designated as Ancient Semi Natural Woodland (ASNW), the growing areas of conifers (a mixture of Scots pine, Douglas fir and larch) have gradually been thinned over the years. The conifers are mid-rotation and will provide income for successive thinnings before being clear felled. This will be an opportunity to restore the woodland to a mixture of native species. Areas of bluebells are abundant where the woodland has been thinned and the additional light has allowed this ancient woodland indicator plant to flourish. A variety of ride networks allow good access on foot and a tried and tested hardstanding at the woodland entrance is more than suitable for timber uplift from any future harvesting operation. There is currently no woodland management plan or active felling licence for Heath End. This would allow any new purchaser to start anew and manage the woodland to their objectives.
